President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland has announced his readiness to vie in the upcoming presidential elections in the country.
The President declared his intentions a short while after announcing the date for the polls.
He made the announcement on Monday while delivering his speech at a convention for the ruling Kulmiye Party.
Members of the party voted for Mohamed Kahin as the new chairperson.
Kahin replaces Bihi, who now has ample time to focus on his bid for reelection.
Nevertheless, the Kulmiye Party opted to retain Bihi as their flagbearer in the elections scheduled for December 2024.
