This visit occurred on the fifth day of his working trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), highlighting Somaliland’s commitment to strengthening maritime trade and deepening economic relations with the Middle East country.
The Dubai Port of Deira Al Hamra plays a crucial role in connecting the Horn of Africa region with global markets, serving as a vital link for Somaliland’s traders.
President Irro’s tour emphasized the port’s strategic importance and Somaliland’s focus on enhancing its maritime trade sector.
The visit also underscored ongoing efforts to boost economic partnerships with the UAE, a key trade partner and source of investment for Somaliland, particularly in infrastructure, aviation, and maritime development.

These discussions included future investments in renewable energy, agriculture, and ports, reflecting Somaliland’s proactive approach to fostering international partnerships.
The President’s visit to the UAE is part of a broader strategy to enhance Somaliland’s economic and political position on the global stage.
His engagements in Dubai, including participation in the World Government Summit, further demonstrate Somaliland’s commitment to securing regional and international recognition, as well as fostering economic growth through strategic alliances.
