Ismail Ahmed, the founder of WorldRemit, has donated COVID-19 medical equipment to Somaliland.
The country’s Ministry of Health received the donations that included 100,000 N95 facemasks and 40,000 regular facemasks.
Ahmed also donated 100,000 hand sanitization kits to be distributed to health officials to help them curb the spread of the disease around the country.
Furthermore, he also pledged a donation of $1 million to help the government to coordinate the fight against COVID-19 better.
Ahmed also announced that the next donation of medical supplies would arrive at Hargeisa in the next few days.
The philanthropist was born and raised in Somaliland before relocating to the United Kingdom where he became a naturalized citizen.
He started his firm 10 years ago. Since then, WorldRemit has grown into a company that serves more than 4 million customers worldwide.
