Somaliland Receives More Medical Supplies from UAE

Somaliland has received a second consignment of medical donation from the United Arab Emirates to help halt the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Tons of medical supplies arrived via a cargo plane at Somaliland’s Hargeisa airport yesterday. Included in the supplies were testing machines too.

Omar Ali Abdillahi, the country’s Minister of Health, was at the airport to receive the donation, which are critical in fighting the virulent disease.

Lately, the Middle East nation has played a crucial role in helping Somaliland test, treat, and curb the spread of the disease.

While accepting the donation, Abdillahi said, “We are honored to receive the donation of medical supplies from the UAE to help fight Coronavirus.”

Meanwhile, Abdillahi’s predecessor in the ministry, Dr. Hassan Ismail Yusuf, issued a heartfelt appeal to the international community to help the country deal with the effects of COVID-19.

He asked the international community to extend assistance to the Horn of Africa nation, which remains unrecognized internationally, before the situation worsens.
