Somaliland Says It Had Nothing to Do with Poet’s Death in Las Anod

Somaliland has denied reports claiming that its troops were responsible for the mortar attack that caused the death of a prominent Somali poet in Las Anod.

A mortar attack in Las Anod on Wednesday caused the death of Jama Kadiye, one of the most prominent poets in the East African nation.

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre led the nation in mourning the death of Kadiye.

On Thursday, Somaliland government said that it wasn’t to blame for the mortar attack that caused Kadiye’s death.

Instead, Somaliland pointed an accusing finger at Al-Shabaab.

Nevertheless, Al-Shabaab and SSC-Khaatumo have also denied their involvement in the incident.
