Taiwan has promised to offer scholarships to Somaliland students, the country’s Director of Higher Education has announced.
The scholarships will be for students who graduate from their studies in colleges and universities around the country.
The announcement follows a meeting between officials from Somaliland’s Ministry of Education and Science and Taiwan’s newly appointed Representative in the East African nation.
Taiwan’s Deputy Representative to Somaliland was also at the meeting.
Somaliland’s Director of Higher Education clarified that the scholarships are for those who wish to pursue Masters and PhDs in Taiwan.
Furthermore, the Director indicated that the scholarships are to be available from 2021.
He also mentioned that preference would be given to those taking courses in engineering, healthcare and medicine, and fisheries and marine management.
