Somaliland to Build a New Cement Plant

The breakaway region of Somaliland will soon have a new cement plant.

Horn Holding Group Ltd, a subsidiary of MSC Group of Companies, plans to construct a new cement plant in Somaliland’s Berbera Port.

This follows the signing of a contract between MSC and Bedeschi SPA.

Construction of the first phase of the cement plan will take 18 months.

Once complete, the plant will be capable of producing 3,300 tons of cement and 3,000 tons of clinker per day.

Its installed production capacity will be 700,000 tons per year.

Currently, Somaliland is a net importer of cement. The new plant will allow the country to save huge sums of money.

The plant would employ around 300 people in the country directly.
