Somaliland has announced intentions to construct a modern tower that would help to monitor maritime security.
The comprehensive coastal maritime tower will be put up at Berbera Port.
Somaliland will establish the tower jointly with the European Union Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP).
The tower is equipped with capacity to sweep a radius of up to 100 nautical miles.
Admiral Ahmed Hurre Hariye of the Somaliland Coast Guards inspected the ongoing construction at the port.
He added that the tower would be complete and ready for use by September 2024.
