Authorities in Somaliland are to execute a Norwegian man who was sentenced to death on Saturday, November 20.

The 54-year old man was arrested and prosecuted for premeditated murder.

A local court found him guilty of premeditated murder in Somaliland.

On Wednesday, November 18, the court sentenced him to death. His family back in Norway has been informed of his execution date.

The man’s lawyer said that Somaliland authorities informed the man’s relations back in Norway of his possible execution on Thursday, November 19.

Farid Bouras, his lawyer, said that he had written to Ine Eriksen Soreide, Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the matter.

In his letter, Bouras asked the government of Norway to intervene in the matter and ensure that his client is not executed.
