The breakaway region of Somaliland has announced investigations into the activities of Abaarso Network Services (ANS).
News of the investigations follows the recent concerns that members of the public posted on social media regarding ANS.
Consequently, Somaliland’s Ministry of Religious Endowment has announced joint investigations with the Ministry of Education on the organization.
Concerns raised by the public mostly revolved around claims that the organization flouted tenets of the Islamic faith.
ANS provides educational opportunities to students from different parts of the country.
The investigations by the government are to kick off on August 21.
The recent public uproar followed reports that one of the organization’s employees – Pastor Joy Isa – has been discussing and promoting her religious beliefs with co-workers contrary to ANS’ policies.
