On Thursday, Somaliland’s National Preparedness Committee on COVID-19 announced that it had received medical supplies to help curb the spread of the deadly disease in the country.
According to the committee, the supplies were from the government. However, it confirmed reports that the supplies had taken too long to get to their offices.
The committee asserts that the delay was mostly because of the COVID-19 restrictions the government has imposed around the country.
The freshly acquired supplies include facemasks, ventilators, and hand sanitizers. Coverall suits are part of this batch of supplies too.
Mostly, the supplies are for healthcare officers and frontline workers to prevent them from exposure to patients who have already been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.
Nevertheless, the public is also set to benefit from these supplies to ensure that the disease does not spread and infect more people.
Officials of the committee have confirmed that the supplies cost US$2,000. They also reassured the public that more COVID-19 equipment is on its way to the country.
