Somaliland’s Deputy Minister of Interior has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Nasir Aydid tendered his resignation on Monday, June 6.
He is the latest senior officer in either government or a constitutional body to resign in the last few weeks.
Members of the Somaliland Electoral Commission (SEC) already resigned.
Aydid’s resignation is also a result of the ongoing standoff over the general elections, which Somaliland is scheduled to hold in November 2022.
