Somaliland’s Government to Monitor Private Bank Accounts of MDAs

The government of Somaliland has announced plans to monitor the private bank accounts of all MDAs in the country.

Somaliland’s government announced this through the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.

In the announcement, the Somaliland authorities said that they would be keeping a close eye on all government finances held in private bank accounts.

Specifically, the Central Bank of Somaliland and finance ministry stated their intentions to pay more attention on project grants held in private bank accounts.

The announcement was made on January 14, 2021 following a meeting between senior officials from the finance ministry and the Governor of the Central Bank.

Muse Ibrahim Yusuf Selef, the Deputy Minister of Finance, led the delegation from the ministry.

Ali Ibrahim Baghdadi, the Governor of the Central Bank, led his team.

Other senior government officials at the function included Mohamed Abdi Gurhan, the Director General at the finance ministry.
