Somaliland’s House of Elders Reopen Their 72nd Session

The House of Elders reopened its 72nd Session yesterday. The session reopened when the local Members of Parliament (MPs) returned from their recess.

Today, the Chair of the House of Elders issued the MPs with the agenda of this session. Afterward, the MPs now have two days to acclimatize themselves with the agenda.

Primarily, the 72nd Session reconvenes to discuss domestic and foreign policies.

MPs are also scheduled to talk about the recent Somalia-Somaliland talks in Djibouti. The talks between the two countries are ongoing.

Furthermore, the House of Elders is also primed to talk about COVID-19, which has ravaged the country since the first case was reported three months ago.

As per items on the agenda, MPs will be discussing the outbreak of inter-clan skirmishes, which have been on the rise, especially in regions such as Sahil and Sanaag.
