Somaliland’s House of Representatives Postpones Sessions over COVID-19 Fears

Somaliland’s House of Representatives has postponed all upcoming sessions over COVID-19 fears, a press release has confirmed.

Initially, June 6 had been set aside as the date for reopening the 43rd Session of the House of Representatives.

However, the latest announcement made on Tuesday shows that it would not be possible for resume a fresh round of parliamentary sitting with COVID-19 still ravaging the country.

The statement released by the House of Reps says the postponement is their way of respecting the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.

Furthermore, the statement also mentioned that the House wants to keep lawmakers and all parliamentary staff working within the premises safe.

Recently, the government confirmed that a few Somaliland cabinet ministers had tested positive to the novel Coronavirus.
