The money changers of Somaliland held discussions with a senatorial committee over the weekend.
Members of the Money Exchange Association held a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Senate to discuss a myriad of issues.
Top of the list of topics discussed was the instability of the foreign exchange rates.
The discussions, which were held in the Senate, took place under the leadership of Jirde Saeed Muhammed, the Chairman of the Standing Committee.
Barhad Omar Ofiye, the Chairman of the Somaliland Exchangers Association, led his members at the talks.
Ofiye briefed the Committee on the stability of foreign exchange rates for the past five years.
However, he added that COVID-19 and the recent inferno at Waheen Market had worsened the situation thus creating a lot of jitters.
