Somaliland has announced plans to include the nation’s tax system in its education curriculum.
The Ministry of Financial Development made this announcement on July 17 during a meeting with representatives of the top universities in the country.
During the meeting, the ministry’s Department of Economics and Statistics presented a report on the level of understanding that Somaliland students have of the country’s tax system.
Dr. Saad Ali Shire, the Minister of Financial Development, attended the meeting.
Abdikarim Ahmed Moge, the Mayor of Hargeisa, was at the meeting too.
Others who participated in this important meeting included Mohamed Abdi Gurhan and Ibrahim Amin Gadiid.
Gurhan is the ministry’s Director-General while Gadiid serves as the Director of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education.
Participants agreed to take the discussions to the technical stage.
