Mohamed Musa Dirie, Somaliland’s Minister of Water Development, launched the construction of Borama water tank reservoir on September 13.
On Sunday, he was on site to lay the foundation stone for the reservoir.
Somaliland Development Fund (SDF) is funding the project, which is to solve water-related issues that local residents have struggled with for years.
Ahmed Aalin Timbaro, the Governor of Borama, accompanied the minister to launch the project.
Mayor Suleiman Hassan Hadi and representatives from SHABA, the local water company, witnessed the laying of the foundation stone too.
Dirie assured residents that the government would not take stern measures against any person who attempts to interfere with the water expansion projects in the region.
