On Monday last week, Somali National Army (SNA) liberated Janaale Town, an agricultural-rich town, from Al-Shabaab’s control.
Somali’s Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire hailed the move terming it a huge blow to Al-Shabaab’s reemergence in the country.
Al-Shabaab has relied on Janaale to raise taxes to finance its activities in the country and Horn of Africa region at large.
While hailing the move, PM Khaire said, “Our people can now see the fruits of the efforts we put in place to reform all uniformed personnel in the country.”
He congratulated the country’s military for liberating key population and agricultural center. Khaire noted that Janaale was a key cog in the operations of the extremist group.
He commended the “battlefield victory” by the country’s gallant soldiers in ridding the town of terrorist influence.
Prime Minister Khaire expressed his gratitude to SNA troops for safeguarding the lives and properties of all Somalis in the country.
