Somalis can now look forward to some new opportunities after the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) signed the University for Peace (UPEACE) Charter.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud signed the instrument of accession on behalf of Somalia.
With that act, Somalia has now endorsed the UPEACE Charter, which it would now proceed to implement fully.
Dr. Mohamed Osman, UPEACE’s Country Representative to Somalia, welcomed the latest development.
According to Dr. Osman, Somali students are now expected to benefit greatly from scholarships that UPEACE would provide.
The Somali President signed the charter in New York on September 22.
He is currently attending the ongoing 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
