Somalis Sign Petition to Strip Ethiopian PM of His Nobel Peace Prize

Thousands of Somalis have signed a petition to strip the Ethiopian Prime Minister of his Nobel Peace Prize.

As of Tuesday, around 8,644 Somalis in the diaspora had signed the petition.

Their objective is to convince the committee in charge of the Nobel Peace Prize of the need for revoking the award that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed received in 2019.

Somalis in diaspora took this move out of anger at the decision by Ethiopia to sign an agreement with Somaliland.

Last week, Ethiopia and Somaliland signed a deal that grants the latter international recognition.

Ethiopia offered Somaliland the recognition it craves as an independent state while getting direct access to Berbera Port.
