Somali’s Spy Chief in Mogadishu Fired

On Tuesday, the country’s spy chief in Mogadishu was sacked.

His sacking came after one of the nation’s terror groups attacked a heavily fortified compound in the capital city.

Hiran Online, a local media, said, “Fahad Yassin, the national intelligence chief based, sacked Ibrahim Yadow, the region intelligence chief of Banadir Region.”

Hiran Online went on to say that Isse Mohamed Isse will replace Yadow.

An official from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) spoke to Hiran Online anonymously. He said the sacked chief was likeable and well educated within the agency.

It is the second time in a matter of weeks that Fahad Yassin has sacked a member of the security team following an attack by Al-Shabaab.

A few weeks ago, he sacked the police commissioner of Wajadir District, Mogadishu. This came after an attack on the same compound where several people were injured.
