The regional state of Southwest has elected seven new Members of Parliament (MPs) into the federal House of the People (Lower House).
Delegates from Southwest elected the new legislators on February 9.
The lawmakers included two female MPs who will now proceed to Mogadishu to represent the people of Southwest.
Wednesday’s elections were marked with a bit of controversy, though.
Southwest’s State Elections Implementation Team (SEIT) locked out journalists from the Barawe election center.
