Southwest Police Officers to be Trained on International Human Rights

Police officers from the Southwest State are to be trained on international human rights as part of efforts to equip them with the right skills and knowledge.

For decades, Somalia has been a country that disrespects human rights.

Women and girls have suffered immensely from sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

The regional officers are in Baidoa, the capital of the Southwest State, to attend the training that is scheduled to last for the next 10 days from September 19.

Organizers of the workshop appreciate the importance of bringing police officers up to speed on international human rights law and importance of protecting women and girls.
