Somalia’s Southwest State has donated cash to victims of the forced evictions in Somaliland’s Las Anod region.
Somaliland authorities have been evicting people from southern Somalia from Las Anod since October 2.
The forced evictions have attracted condemnation from local and international individuals and organizations.
On October 31, authorities in Southwest State delivered the cash donations to the evictees.
The cash donations, which ranged between $1,600 and $3,500, were based on the sizes of each individual’s family.
The local officials expressed gratitude to Hormuud and Dahabshil for donating the cash that eventually reached the victims.
