The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for the regional state of Southwest chaired a meeting to seek humanitarian intervention.
Abdinasir Abdi Arush, the humanitarian affairs minister, chaired the virtual meeting on Wednesday, May 25.
Southwest is in the midst of an ongoing drought that has displaced thousands of people and exposed millions more to an acute shortage of food.
The meeting he chaired sought to identify effective humanitarian interventions to prevent the situation from worsening.
Further, Arush and the other participants discussed ways of scaling up the ongoing drought mitigation efforts in Southwest state.
