Southwest’s Police Commander Vows Total War on Al-Shabaab, Hails Presidential Backing

In a resolute declaration from the frontline, Colonel Mohamed Hassan Sandhere, commander of Southwest State’s elite police forces in Burhakaba, has sworn to “completely purge” the strategic city of Al-Shabaab militants through intensified operations.

Speaking to security personnel during a morale-boosting inspection tour, Sandhere credited recent gains against the insurgents to President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen’s administration, stating: “The presidential palace isn’t just watching – they’re arming us, funding us, and strategically guiding this liberation campaign.”

His remarks come as joint forces escalate clearing operations along Burhakaba’s outskirts, where Al-Shabaab has mounted repeated IED attacks. Intelligence sources confirm the militants have lost three key checkpoints this month amid the offensive.

“Every alleyway, every village – we’re coming,” Sandhere warned the militants, while urging residents to report suspicious movements. The commander’s bold pledge underscores Southwest’s determination to secure the agriculturally vital region ahead of Somalia’s anticipated major offensive against Al-Shabaab strongholds.
