Newly-elected Speaker of the House of the People (Lower House) met with senior officials from the African Union (AU) and AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe’s meetings with the ATMIS and AU officials took place in Mogadishu on May 4.
Madobe has been on a series of high-profile meetings with several representatives of Somalia’s international partners over the last few days.
Fiona Lortan, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC) to Somalia was at the meeting too.
They mostly centered their discussions on the upcoming presidential elections in Somalia.
The East African nation is on the last leg of its electioneering period.
Presidential elections are scheduled to take place before the end of May 2022.
