The Special Envoy for Drought Response briefed the Arab League’s foreign affairs ministers on the drought situation in Somalia.
Abdirahman Abdishakur, the Special Envoy, met with the foreign affairs ministers on Saturday, July 2.
He provided the ministers with the latest details on the measures Somalia is taking to address the humanitarian crisis created by the drought.
While at it, Abdishakur also appealed for urgent humanitarian intervention from the members of the Arab League.
In his address, Abdishakur reminded them of the need for more investments in all Arab League member countries to address food insecurity.
Abdishakur informed the ministers that investments in areas such as renewable energy, fishing, and agriculture are necessary for boosting food security.
