Special Envoy for Drought Response Leads Delegation to Gedo to Assess Humanitarian Needs

Somalia’s Special Envoy for Drought Response has led a delegation to Gedo to assess the humanitarian situation.

Abdirahman Abdishakur, the Special Envoy for Drought Response, led the delegation to Gedo’s Baardhere town.

He arrived in the town in the company of a delegation that comprised officials from Qatar on Monday, July 4.

Abdishakur has been traveling to different parts of Somalia to assess the effect of the ongoing drought and the humanitarian intervention needed.

Gedo is one of the regions in the East African nation that is the most affected by the ongoing drought, which is the worst in the last 40 years in Somalia.
