Special Police Force Deployed to HirSHabelle Ahead of Crucial Polls

Specially trained police officers were deployed to HirShabelle ahead of a crucial vote in the semiautonomous state.

The government sent officers from Haram’ad, who received special training from Turkish military, to HirShabelle on Wednesday, October 26.

Upon arrival, they immediately went to the Presidential Palace and took full control.

The decision to take full control of the palace, which is in Jowhar, is a significant move by the Federal Government of Somalia.

First, HirShabelle has announced a list featuring Members of Parliament (MPs) expected to pick a new president.

Secondly, Fahad Yasin, the Director of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), also took possession of HirShabelle’s election files last week.

Yasin is one of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s closest confidantes.
