Officers from a special unit of the Somali Police Force (SPF) arrested several women suspected of being Al-Shabaab members.
The officers, who were from the Haram’ad unit, arrested the women in an operation carried out in the region on Tuesday.
Police sources said that they arrested five women in the operation.
Haram’ad officers raided several houses suspected to be Al-Shabaab hideouts.
Afgoye is roughly 30km to the west of Mogadishu. The operation in Afgoye was the latest by security agents around the country.
