Stop Signing Shoddy Deals with Somalia, International Oil Firms Warned

The Forum for National Parties (FNP) has warned international oil firms against signing shoddy deals with Somalia.

FNP issued the warning a few days after the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) opened bids for seven oil blocks.

The coalition, which comprises six opposition parties in the Horn of African nation, issued the warning to global oil and gas conglomerates.

FNP reminded all interested firms that the country is ready to protect its resources and assets “jealously.”

Consequently, it requested international firms to ensure that their agreements and contracts with the government remain above board at all times.

FNP also warned members of the public to be vigilant because the current administration could use proceeds from oil projects for running political campaigns ahead of the upcoming polls.
