Swan is in Kismayo for Talks with Madobe over Exit from Recent NCC Summit

The United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, James Swan, arrived in Kismayo, the interim capital of Jubbaland, on Sunday.

Swan, who is also the Head of the UN Assistance Mission (UNSOM), arrives in Jubbaland to discuss wide-ranging issues with the region’s leadership.

He kicked off by holding a meeting with Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Madobe.

During the meeting, they discussed key political and electoral issues, particularly focusing on Jubbaland’s stance regarding the recent National Consultative Council (NCC) summit in Mogadishu.

According to sources, the visit is part of ongoing efforts to encourage President Madobe to rejoin the NCC summit and address the disagreements among Somali leaders.

The talks are aimed at fostering greater political cooperation and unity across Somalia.
