Swan Travels to Puntland for Electoral Talks with Deni

James Swan, the United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, traveled to Puntland to discuss elections impasse with President Said Abdullahi Deni.

The UN Special Envoy has been on a countrywide tour to meet with the leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS) to discuss ways of solving the electoral crisis.

Somalia was scheduled to hold parliamentary elections in December 2020 but this failed to take place because of several reasons.

Swan traveled to Garowe on January 25.

Over the last week, he traveled to various regional states.

His trip to Puntland is quite crucial since the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) omitted it and Jubbaland from the places where elections would take place.
