Sweden Lists Criteria for Deporting Somalis

Sweden will deport Somali nationals who are non-citizens and meet one or more specific criteria, according to Ambassador Joachim Waern.

These include those involved in criminal activities or individuals who have committed crimes in Sweden.

Secondly, the Swedish government is prepared to deport those any Somali national who is not recognized as a refugee.

Somali nationals whose claims or applications for asylum have been rejected will face deportation from Sweden too.

Key Points of Collaboration

Meanwhile, Amb. Waern added that Sweden and Somalia will work together to track the progress and reintegration of deported individuals.

Apart from that, both governments aim to deter deportees from joining extremist groups, addressing regional and international security concerns.

This approach aligns with Sweden’s focus on ensuring public safety while coordinating closely with Somalia on reintegration and counter-terrorism efforts.
