Sweden is to start working closely with the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC) to improve democracy in the region and the entire country too.
This was revealed on November 30 during a meeting between TPEC’s Chairman Guled Salah and representatives from the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations.
Salah was in the company of Ahmed Nabaddoon, the Country Representative of the International Organization for Peacebuilding (Interpeace).
Ambassador Ebyan Salah, Ambassador of Somalia to Switzerland, was also present.
Anna Jardfelt, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations joined his colleagues too.
They held discussions touching on several issues.
The most prominent issue on their agenda was the critical support that Sweden needs to provide to Puntland and Somalia to boost the democratization process.
Representatives from TPEC are in Geneva, Switzerland on an official visit.
