Terrorism Has Increased Poverty in Somalia, World Bank Says

Terrorism is one of the factors responsible for increased poverty in Somalia, the World Bank has said.

World Bank has just issued a report citing the recent surge in terror attacks as a factor responsible for the high poverty levels in the East African nation.

According to World Bank, terror attacks diminish the ability of the government to focus on development policies effectively.

Moreover, the report shows that households exposed to terror incidents have seen a reduction of up to 33 percent in their consumption power.

As per the report, many Somali men and women lose their jobs and livelihoods after each terror attack.

With Somalia’s reputation as one of the poorest countries in the sub-Sahara, the terror attacks are not doing the country any favor.
