Thousands in Somaliland Protest Remarks by French President on Islam

Thousands of people took to the streets of Somaliland to protest the remarks that President Emmanuel Macron made on Islam.

Large numbers of protesters went to the streets of Buroa, which is the the second largest city in Somaliland, on Tuesday, October 27.

The protesters were urging the people of Somaliland to boycott French goods.

They joined fellow Muslims around the world who have also taken to the streets in their respective cities to protest Macron’s behavior towards Islam.

Recently, President Macron defended cartoons and caricatures drawn by French artists in different magazines and newspapers in the country.

The cartoons and caricatures often seem to be mocking Prophet Muhammad.

Further, Macron also referred to Muslims in France as “separatists.”

Apart from that, he referred to Islam as a “religion that is in crisis.”

Tensions between Macron and Muslims increased a notch higher when he mourned the murder of a French teacher over his decision to show the caricatures to his students.

While mourning the teacher, Macron said, “France would not give up on its cartoons.”
