Thousands of recruits interested in joining the Somali National Army (SNA) have gone abroad for training.
Hussein Sheikh-Ali said that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) sent the recruits abroad for training to prepare them for the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab terrorists.
Sheikh-Ali is the National Security Advisor to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
In his recent interview with the Voice of America (VOA) Somalia, Sheikh-Ali added that Somalia sent 3,000 recruits each to Uganda and Eritrea for training.
He added that a further 6,000 recruits would be sent to Egypt and Ethiopia for the same reason.
In the one-on-one interview with VOA Somalia, Sheikh-Ali mentioned that the government intends to train 15,000 soldiers and have them ready for the counterterrorism war in 2023.
