Three lawmakers from HirShabelle Regional State Parliament were wounded in an explosion on Friday night in Jowhar.
The lawmakers were in their residence when the explosive device went off causing serious injuries and damage to property.
Authorities have identified the lawmakers as Osman Abdullahi Dhore, Duwane Farah Ali, and Adan Mohamed Muse.
The explosion occurred only some two days to the elections for the HirShabelle Upper House seats.
HirShabelle remains the only regional state that’s yet to hold its senatorial elections.
No person or group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security agents in the region have launched investigations into the incident, which seems to have targeted the lawmakers.
