Three Somali Civilians Abducted in El-Wak by KDF Soldiers Released

Three Somali civilians abducted in early October 2020 by Kenya Defense Force (KDF) soldiers have been released.

The three civilians were released on Sunday October 25.

Early this month, reports from El-Wak, a region along Somalia’s border with Kenya, showed that the Kenyan military abducted eight civilians.

Kenya military has not provided any details on the whereabouts of the other four civilians.

During this month’s clashes between KDF and the local civilians, one resident of El-Wak was killed by the military.

Residents across the entire Gedo region took to the streets to protest the killing of the civilian and the abduction of seven others.

At the time, the local residents urged the Federal Government of Somalia to expel KDF soldiers from the region.
