Somaliland’s Representative to Kenya, Bashe Omar, has said the country would not give up on the quest for international recognition.
His comments come despite the recent efforts led by Djibouti to reconcile Somalia and Somaliland.
Somaliland has been running an independent government since 1991 after breaking free from Somalia.
However, in all that time it has not enjoyed any recognition from the international community.
In the last month, the government of Taiwan has established diplomatic relations with Somaliland despite pressure from China and Somalia.
Bashe said his country is determined to press on until it receives the recognition it longs for from more members of the international community.
President Muse Bihi Abdi recently hosted a high-powered delegation from Kenya as part of a charm diplomatic offensive designed to reach out to the international community.
