Residents of Toronto’s Etobicoke neighborhood have raised their opposition to the establishment of a Somali Cultural Hub.
Members of the local Somali community had expressed intentions to set up such a hub, which would act as their cultural and recreational center.
Lately, local residents joined hands with politicians to oppose the hub’s establishment.
The hub was to be put up at Buttonwood Park.
Primarily, locals believe that the hub’s presence would be detrimental to the green space in the area.
They accuse the planners of failing to consult widely with them.
Furthermore, those opposed to its establishment accused members of the Somali community of not considering their concerns too.
