The Trump administration has reversed its recent decision to terminate several foreign aid programs, reinstating at least six initiatives primarily focused on emergency food assistance.
These programs, which had been suspended, provide critical food aid to countries including Lebanon, Syria, Somalia, Jordan, Iraq, and Ecuador.
This reversal follows internal and congressional pressure after the initial aid cuts were criticized for potentially endangering millions of lives in countries facing severe hunger and conflict.
Earlier this week, reports indicated that the administration had ended life-saving aid programs for over a dozen countries, including Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, and Syria, totaling over $1.3 billion.
While some programs have been reinstated, aid to Afghanistan and Yemen remains suspended due to concerns over potential benefits to the Taliban and Houthi factions.
