Turkey has issued a statement condemning the recent attack carried out by Al-Shabaab at a military base in Mogadishu.
The government of Turkey called the attack “cowardly and irresponsible.”
On Saturday, the Al-Qaeda linked group carried out a suicide car bomb attack at the Somali National Army (SNA) base in Somalia’s capital city.
Immediately afterward, Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the deadly attack at April 12 military base.
Eight SNA soldiers were killed while more than 10 were rushed to the nearby hospital for medical treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.
Turkey, as one of Somalia’s closest allies, condemned the attack strongly.
Consequently, Ankara has reassured Mogadishu of continued support in the war against terrorism, which the East African nation has struggled with for over 12 years.
Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement registering its condolences with the families of the victims who died or suffered injuries in Saturday’s deadly raid.
