Turkey Condoles with Puntland’s Flash Flood Victims

Turkey has condoled with the victims of the recent flash floods that hit Somalia’s Puntland state and left massive destruction behind.

In Qardho, flash floods caused by heavy rains in Somalia left six people dead while seven others remain missing and unaccounted for.

Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement expressing sadness at news from Somalia indicating that tens of people have lost their lives or are missing.

The statement read, “News of the tragic loss of lives and massive damages from flash floods in Qardho, Puntland has left us saddened.”

Turkey also expressed its solidarity with the “friendly and brotherly” Somalis while wishing the deceased ‘Allah’s mercy.”

A report filed by Garowe Online showed that heavy downpours submerged homes on Monday night and swept several food stores away.

This week, seasonal rains have intensified in Somalia. Further, the situation has worsened in the last two weeks in most parts of the country and the eastern highlands of Ethiopia.
