Turkey to Hold Separate Meetings with Somali and Ethiopian Officials before 3rd Round of Talks

Türkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold separate discussions with Ethiopia and Somalia regarding the ongoing dispute over Ethiopia’s agreement to lease a portion of coastline from Somaliland.

These talks aim to facilitate new negotiations to address the concerns of both sides.

Turkey already invited officials from both nations’ foreign affairs ministries to Ankara for talks.

Thus far, the mediation talks have taken place twice.

Reports indicate that the most recent of those talks never went according to plan.

Consequently, Turkey has now seen it best to meet with officials from both nations separately first before convening the third round of joint mediation talks.

The date and venue of the separate meetings are yet to be announced.
