A Turkish engineer was killed by suspected members of the Al-Shabaab militia group in Mogadishu on January 2, 2021.
According to multiple sources, the engineer was part of a group working on the construction of the Mogadishu-Afgoye Road.
The Qatari government has funded the construction of the road.
Security agencies confirmed that the engineer was not the only one who lost his life in the incident. Two Somali Police Force (SPF) officers also died.
The incident took place in Lafole, which is in the western side of the nation’s capital.
