The Turkish seismic research vessel Oruç Reis, accompanied by support ships and two naval frigates, is currently passing through the Suez Canal on its way to Somalia, as of Friday.
The vessel will conduct seismic surveys in Somali waters as part of an agreement between Somalia and Turkey.
This mission reflects the growing cooperation between the two nations, with Turkey contributing to Somalia’s economic development and resource exploration, particularly in the energy sector.
The surveys will likely focus on identifying potential hydrocarbon reserves off the Somali coast, which could have significant economic implications for the country.
